Trips to NY - Summer 2000

This is a picture of Ellis Island.  There was a museum inside that talked about the immigrants' heritage.  I learned a lot of things about my ancestors in there.  My Grandpa and Grandma came to Ellis Island many years ago as children.  They both came as children.  I can remember my Grandpa always telling us stories of what it was like growing up as a child in New York.

This is a picture of the statue of liberty, taken from underneath looking up at it on the island she resides on.

This is a picture of the statue of Liberty on its pedestal.  The statue itself is not really all that big when you look at it from this angle.

This is a picture of of the Statue of Liberty taken from the boat on our way out to see her.  No one told us that there were literally tons of people waiting to go inside.  When we got there the lines were so long, we just walked around the outside instead.  It was real hot that day and none of us wanted to stand out in the sun and wait :)

This is a picture of me and Tommy on Liberty Island after our boat ride.  I could come here and sit and watch that skyline for hours!  It was so beautiful.  I loved the way the shadows changed the way the buildings looked.

Here it is folks.  The famous NY Skyline!!  Can you find the Empire State Building in the picture?  I remember learning as a kid that it was the tallest building in the world.  I guess it isn't even the tallest building in NY anymore.

This is a picture of mom and dad stepping off our bus as we got to Liberty Island.  From here we boarded a boat out to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

This is a picture of the famous New York Brooklyn Bridge taken on the boat on our way to see the Statue of Liberty.

MORE TO COME
