This is a picture of Tommy on the train on his way to D.C. He was very excited about the trip. Every half hour he kept asking "are we there yet?" |

| This is a picture of Tina on the train ride out to D.C. I think she was more excited about the trip than Tommy was. |

| This is a picture of some of the scenery that we saw outside our train window. There were a lot of interesting sites between Rome and D.C. There was one point where we went over a body of water that seemed so close to the tracks that you'd swear that we were on a boat instead of a train. |

| This is a picture of the inside of Union Station in Washington D.C. It is hard to see all the detail in this picture, but it really is a beautiful building. We arrived in D.C. at about 6:00pm. |

| This is another picture of Union Station. As you can see, there were a lot of people there at the time we arrived. The whole time we were in D.C., it was quite crowded with site-seers and student bus tours. |

| This is an aerial view of the D.C. Metro area. I think we covered just about all the major highlights while we were in D.C. If you look really close, you can see the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, White House, Capitol Building, Jefferson Memorial, and Kennedy Center. |

| This is a picture of the fountain inside of the Hirshorn Museum. This was a neat building because the outside is completely round with no windows, and the inside is mostly windows with this fountain at the center. |

| This is a picture of Tommy standing in front of the big fountain at the Hirshorn Museum. He wanted to stand there because the breeze was blowing the water from the fountain onto him. It was a very hot day that day and we all needed cooling off. |

| This is a picture of the National Archives building. Inside this building are the original Declaration of Independence and the original Constitution. There were also many original writings of famous people in our nation's history including the Magna Carta, letters from George Washington to his wife Martha, and Ronald Reagan's hand written Inaugural speech. We were lucky to get to see these this year, because the entire building will be closing for two years later this summer for renovations. |

| This is a picture of the Rayburn Building. This is the home of many of our U.S. Representatives. We were invited here by our own Sherwood Boehlert to come see his office and get a tour of the Capitol building. While we were there we met several interns in Mr. Boehlert's office that were from our area. They were from Oriskany, New Hartford and Holland Patten. |

| This is a picture of the Smithsonian castle taken the first evening we arrived. After we settled into our hotel room, we walked down to the mall and took some pictures of what we saw there. As you can see in the pictures, it was just about dusk. |

This is a picture of the Washington Monument, taken our first night in D.C. at dusk. The little spec by the top of the monument is a plane that had just taken off from the D.C. National Airport. |

| This is a picture of some of the old houses that we found around downtown D.C. This house was right outside of the Capitol building. |

This is a picture of the Friendship Arch in D.C.'s Chinatown. We came here often since this corner had the nearest grocery store (CVS) from our Hotel. It was also where we caught the subway to go to all the other places we visited while we were in D.C. |

| This is another picture of China town and the Friendship Arch that marks the entrance to China town. |

this is a picture of downtown D.C. Off to the right you see a small house with two small towers. This was the house that James Madison and his wife fled to after the White House was attacked and destroyed during the Civil War. |

| This is another picture of the Madison House from a different angle. As you can see, this was much smaller than the white house. |

| This picture was taken from inside the Hard Rock Cafe in D.C. On the night we went a group of school kids were there and after dinner they sang some songs to everyone in the restaurant. I think they were a catholic choir group and they had wonderful singing voices. |

| This is a picture of Tina inside the Hard Rock Cafe. For dinner she had some chicken with noodles covered with Alfredo sauce, Tommy had a cheeseburger, and I had a chicken club with onion rings. We were soooooooo stuffed after our meal. |

This is a picture of Tommy inside the Hard Rock Cafe. He loved it here because he could actually watch music videos while he was eating his dinner. |

| This is a picture of the Washington Monument that was taken on the south side of the White House. The grassy area in front (called the Ellipse) is where the White House Christmas Tree stands each year. If you look far off in the center of the picture you can see the Jefferson memorial in the distance. |

| This is a picture of the Navy Memorial in Downtown D.C. The water in this memorial is actually from the seven seas and is taken out and stored each winter. In the spring the salt water is put back into the fountain as a rememberance of all those that died at sea. |

| This is a picture of the tower of the Old Post Office. Unfortunately, the tower was closed on the day we went there. It is really nice inside with many shops and eateries. However, the food there was not that great at all and there was very little to choose from. We were very disappointed in the place. |

| This is a picture of the pool and hot tub in the basement of our Hotel. We all spent a lot of time soaking our weary bones and feet after a long days walk here. We also met some very nice people from Alabama, California and St. Louis. Tommy made many new friends in the pool and had a great time swimming and playing with them. |

This is a picture of one of the walls of the Jefferson Memorial. These letters are actually about 12 inches tall. Reading these words inside of this awesome building really gives you an incredible feeling. |

| This is a picture of the other wall inside the Jefferson Memorial. |

| This is a picture of Tina and Tommy standing outside of one of the many beautiful buildings in Downtown D.C. I think this one was the Madison Building where many of the senators have offices. |

| This is a picture of one of the many statues that are everywhere in D.C. This one is of Posidan. This statue is actually a fountain, but it was'nt filled with water yet. |

| This is a picture of Tina and Tommy taking a break from our long walks. We were eager to sit at the many benches that were all over D.C. As you can tell from the pictures, they looked a bit tired out. |

This is a picture of Tommy standing in front of the giant waterfall fountain at the FDR memorial. This place was very crowded when we went there and it kind of spoiled the mood for us. Normally this monument is very quiet and there is a lot of places to go and reflect at all the beauty. |

| This is a statue of FDR listening to war reports on his Radio. Tommy is here listening in with him. |

| This is a statue of John Marshall, our first Supreme Justice. |

This is a picture of me standing outside of the Library of Congress. It looks like I am hoping for a taxi. We only took two taxis the entire time we were in D.C. Once from the train station to the hotel, and one back to the train station on our last day. The rest of the time we either walked or took the subway system. |
