Our Vacation 1998
Toronto (Page 2)

This is a picture of Casa Loma, a huge castle inside the City of Toronto. Inside the castle were about 100 different rooms. It was like walking in the actual mansion of the game Clue! There was a Canservatory, a Billards Room, and even a secret passgeway! I didn't see any revolvers lying around though.

This is a picture of the dining room inside the castle. The interior designs were elaborate and very detailed.

This is a picture of of one of the living rooms inside the castle. Notice the fireplace and giant bay windows.

This is a picture of Tommy taken inside the billiards room. This desk was off to one side so anyone sitting behind could watch others playing billiards. I told Tommy to sit there and look like he was doing something important. I guess maybe he is comtemplating the solution to achieving world peace.

This is a picture of the giant globe located inside the Ontario Science Center. This year they had some excellent exhibits including the science of roller coasters, the rain forrest, communication, technology, and exhibits in Psychology. There was even a place where visitors could explore the Internet so I brought up my web page there and checked my E-mail! It was like being home again! :)

This picture was taken at the Metro Toronto Zoo. This is one of the largest zoos in the world. We saw many different kinds of animals including these rhinos. We had quite a bit of difficulty gettig out to the zoo that day, but once we got there, it was worth it!

This is another picture taken at the zoo. Here is a full size giraffe having a great time in his own habitat. We had a great time at the zoo that day but there must have been 3 or 4 miles of walking!

This picture was taken inside the Pantages Theater's Great Hall. This is the theater that we all saw The Phantom of the Opera in. It was an incredible Opera. This is the second time Tina and I have seen it here. This time we went on a tour the morning of the Opera. The person at the bottom right was our tour guide. We learned a great deal about the theater and even got to take a peek on stage!

This picture was snapped from the balcony inside the lobby of the Pantages Theater. This theater was completely restored just under 10 years ago. Before that it served as a multi screen cinema. Our tour guide told us all about what they went through in order to restore it and get it ready for its first production; The Phantom of the Opera!

This is a picture of the main staircase leading up to the balcony of the theater. At the center you will see a stained glass window. This was the original window from the theater that had to be tracked down after it was auctioned off many years ago. Today, another building is behind the window so they enclosed it and added back lighting. It now serves as a time capsule containing the original blueprints and details on the restoration process in order to make it easier for people many years from now to restore it again if necessary. A pretty smart idea, don't you think?
